BB Diary: Hawaii Salsa Fest in review

The family.  We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together.

~Erma Bombeck

This sums up the week with the BB family. We took turns being sick. Joanna and Doug used up my toothpaste. Doug tortured me by eating red velvet cheesecake while I drank my Gatorade and nibbled on crackers. Chiangs locked Grace out of the room at 5 a.m. We laughed. But we know the common thread that binds us.

Dance.

It was a gift to have this experience together.

A brief look back:

Best quip Me: “Do you dance on 1 or on 2?” The guy: “On 1 and on 2 when I’m off beat.” – Melissa

Heart-warming sights Seeing our students Allen, Hugh, Shariah and Shawn groovin’ on the dance floor. – Darlene

Best ego boost “I got asked to dance more than I asked others. Awesome.” – Doug

Jimmy Bosch with Darlene and Joaquin

Loveliest honour Dancing with Jimmy Bosch, Afro-Cuban jazz trombonist and composer. – Melissa

Our favourite performances smoking hot Serena Cuevas, and the charismatic, energetic reKreation Dance Co.

This sushi meal possibly made me sick...
Chiangs, Shawn, Shariah and Kim owning the ocean.
