Top 10 Best Movies of 2010

When I watch movies, I try really hard to like them.

This week, I saw the latest Coen Brothers film, True Grit. My colleague, Mark Medley‘s description of it being 100 minutes of cowboys mumbling is pretty apt. I also watched Winter’s Bone which features a riveting performance by 19-year-old Jennifer Lawrence but I found the story to be dull and anticlimactic.

Here’s what ended up in my top 10 list:

1. Inception How can someone love a movie that she needed to watch three times to understand? But Christopher Nolan’s film is like wine. The more you drink, the more you appreciate the complexities. Or is it the more you drink, the more confused you are? In any case, Nolan’s creative twist on the heist genre is intoxicating.

2. The Social Network Melissa Leong likes this. As do scores of critics and viewers, with good reason. This smart, funny and intensely interesting drama about the founding of Facebook is worthy of all the end-of-year adoration.
